Cross-Cultural Communications

In today’s globalized economy, being responsive to cultural nuances is not optional.

Cultural differences impact all businesses today. Understanding leadership and management differences is imperative to doing business effectively. While no-one can know all the subtleties of cross-cultural communication, everyone must understand that differences exist, and how to adapt accordingly.

I strike a careful balance in my trainings between specific situational practice and general knowledge of the thousands of variations out there. I give attendees ample opportunity to practice and hone their skills in the actual contexts they’ll need to use – a participant who will frequently work with Germans will practice giving feedback to a German. But I also give attendees an understanding of how to give reasonable feedback to anyone they might work with.

Participants develop strategies for adapting business styles, troubleshooting cross-cultural issues that arise in the workplace, and leading multicultural teams effectively.

I help raise leaders’ self-awareness (even established leaders often aren’t even aware how their communication style affects their role). Together, we set goals for becoming a more effective communicator – and leader.

My approach is to help leaders be better versions of themselves. It’s about understanding and seeing how their communication impacts their performance – and how to take that to the next level to be more effective. Having been a corporate leader myself, I am a colleague, not just a coach or consultant.
